How I came to this work

Painting above – Ghost Waves 2-17

I look back on the odd underworld drawings I created when I was five, and see my affinity for this work was already there. Since then I have been fortunate to find my way to gifted, compassionate teachers who have helped me understand and honor this ancient, esoteric, ‘crazy wisdom’ tradition.

I was also fortunate enough to be born in San Francisco, a fourth generation native Californian, and thank my courageous ancestors for their gifts of humor, love of the earth and creative expression.

My visual arts practice has helped me since I was very young, to express my unfolding path. My MFA in studio arts in 2005, is from JFKU’s Arts & Consciouness Dept. Berkeley, CA. A program unusual in the arts, for its requirement of a spiritual practice. Also the reason I chose it. I received a Cadogan /Murphy Award in 2001 for innovative visual work in graduate school. I am a member since 1998 of the Squaw Valley Community of Writers and write fiction and non-fiction.

I now work locally and remotely with individuals and small groups for personal healing and to further creative process. My ongoing focus groups like Stream Orchids and Starseeds offer transformational process, shamanic and subtle body awareness, experiential training and ongoing counsel.

I continue to paint and create in a wide range of media, from drawings to video, installation and performance, and show my work regularly. (Art website here.) All of my art practices are based in subtle body investigations and meditation. I also select color palettes for all architectural surfaces: livewithcolor.com.
